Packers DL Montravius Adams carted off field during Tuesday’s camp practice

The start of an important fourth season took a potentially dangerous turn for Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Montravius Adams on Tuesday.

Adams, a third-round pick of the Packers in 2017, was carted off the field with an apparent injury during Tuesday’s training camp practice.

The injury is possibly a right lower leg injury, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Adams was hyped as a potential breakout candidate for the Packers last summer but failed to match the hype, eventually playing a limited number of snaps as nothing more than a rotational defensive lineman in 2019. He’s now in the final year of his rookie deal and under pressure to both make the team and help provide the Packers with necessary depth along the defensive line.

An injury, no matter how significant, could hurt Adams’ chances of finally realizing his potential in 2020.

Last season, Adams played in 14 games but produced only 11 tackles and three pass breakups. He didn’t have a single tackle for loss or quarterback hit. The Packers didn’t trust him on the field, leading to Adams playing only 187 total snaps, but coach Matt LaFleur believes he’s “grown” as an individual this offseason.

LaFleur might provide an update on Adams’ status following Tuesday’s practice.
