Packers DBs Josh Jackson, Darnell Savage missing fifth straight training camp practice

Green Bay Packers defensive backs Josh Jackson and Darnell Savage are missing their fifth straight practice to start training camp on Tuesday morning.

Jackson remains out with a foot injury, while Savage is still recovering from wisdom tooth extraction surgery.

It’s unclear when the pair will be able to return to practice. The Packers want them both back as soon as possible.

Jackson, a second-round pick last season, needs to make a big jump in his second season, while Savage exited the offseason workout program as a starter at safety. They both need all the reps on the field they can get during camp.

The Packers believed Savage would be back early into camp, but he’s now in danger of missing an entire week of practice. The rookie will have an even steeper learning curve as a starter on Mike Pettine’s defense once he returns.

Kicker Mason Crosby (calf), offensive tackle Jason Spriggs (trap), running back Jamaal Williams (hamstring), linebacker Kendall Donnerson (hamstring), defensive lineman Fadol Brown (calf) and linebacker Greg Roberts (core) all joined Jackson and Savage on the sideline Tuesday.
