Packers, Davante Adams break off contract extension discussions

The Green Bay Packers are dealing with major issues with key players on two different fronts.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers and All-Pro receiver Davante Adams have broken off long-term contract extension discussions and currently do not have plans to resume the talks.

Rapoport reports the two sides are in a “bad place” with the start of training camp just days away.

Adams, who is entering a contract year, previously said he would report to training camp regardless of his contract situation. It’s unclear at this point if the state of the contract discussions would affect his attendance at camp.

The Packers are also in the middle of a conflict with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who has an uncertain future with the franchise and may not report to the start of training camp.

Adams set a career-high in catches and led the NFL in receiving touchdowns last season. He is likely looking to be the top-paid player at his position, with a yearly average on new money of over $20 million.
