Packers CB Tony Brown fined $28,075 for Week 1 penalty

The NFL fined Green Bay Packers cornerback Tony Brown $28,075 for a penalty during the team’s Week 1 win over the Chicago Bears, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Brown was penalized 15 yards for a blindside block during a punt return in the fourth quarter. The penalty comes with a $28,075 fine for a first offense.

Cornerback Tramon Williams was not fined for an unnecessary roughness penalty for a tackle out of bounds in the second half. It was a borderline call on the field and the NFL determined it wasn’t worthy of a fine.

Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks was not fined for a questionable hit on Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The play was not penalized on the field.

Brown, a second-year undrafted free agent from Alabama, was fined $10,026 for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty as a rookie last season. He played 26 snaps against the Bears in the opener. His base salary in 2019 is $570,000.
