Packers’ boss Mark Murphy writes team’s brass wants Aaron Rodgers back

Green Bay Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy writes a monthly column for the team’s website. The edition published on Saturday had some information fans will find intriguing.

Murphy wrote the team’s brass — himself, executive BP Russ Ball, GM Brian Gutekunst, and coach Matt LaFleur — would all like to see Aaron Rodgers return for another season with the NFC North champions and the top seed in the NFC playoffs.

Per Murphy Takes Five:

… A key factor will be whether Aaron Rodgers comes back for the 2022 season. Matt, Brian, executive vice president/director of football operations Russ Ball and I are all in agreement that we want Aaron to come back. He is likely to win his fourth league MVP, is the unquestioned leader of our team and is still playing at a high level at 38.

The team would like to avoid the drama of the last offseason when the quarterback was uncertain to return to Green Bay. It played out over a long period and nothing was certain until the start of training camp.

Another season with Green Bay would be the 18th for Rodgers. He surpassed Bart Starr and Brett Favre in 2021. Those Packer legends played 16 seasons with the team.

Murphy was highly complimentary of Nathaniel Hackett, who left the Green Bay organization this offseason to become head coach of the Denver Broncos.

I’m really excited for Nathaniel and think he has a chance to be an outstanding head coach. I was very pleased to see the comments he made in his press conference in Denver about how much he enjoyed his time in Green Bay and the great respect that he has for our organization.
