Packers add veteran fullback Tommy Bohanan to 90-man roster

The Green Bay Packers used their last remaining open roster spot to add a veteran fullback.

The team announced the signing of former Jacksonville Jaguars fullback Tommy Bohanon, who will give Matt LaFleur’s offense more depth at the position while Danny Vitale and Malcolm Johnson recover from recent injuries.

Bohanan (6-1, 246) played in all 32 games for the Jaguars over the last two seasons. He was originally a seventh-round of the New York Jets in 2013.

Bohanan provides the Packers with an experienced fullback who has previously worked with offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

LaFleur’s offense, which has featured the fullback position during camp, needed the depth after Vitale injured his calf and Johnson hurt his groin earlier this week.

Bohanon, 28, has played in 68 career regular season games with 30 starts. He’s turned 26 carries into 72 rushing yards and two touchdowns and 29 catches for 239 yards and one score since joining the NFL. He also caught a touchdown pass during the Jaguars’ playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in Jan. 2018.
