Former GreenBay Packers receiver Ruvell Martin will join Matt LaFleur’s coaching staff as the first hire of the team’s new minority coaching fellowship program.
The team announced the hire and the establishment of the program on Wednesday.
According to the press release, Martin will “work with the offense” and “assist with the wide receivers” during the fellowship, which will last one year.
Martin, a college teammate of LaFleur’s at Saginaw Valley State, played three seasons with the Packers (2006-08). He caught 52 passes for 749 yards and six touchdowns over 41 games in Green Bay. He played with current Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, both before he became the starter and for one year after he took over the job from Brett Favre.
In fact, Martin, now 37, has caught a touchdown pass from both LaFleur and Rodgers.
Martin will work under LaFleur, offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, passing game coordinator Luke Getsy and new receivers coach Jason Vrable.
