Packers activate WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling from injured reserve

The Green Bay Packers are getting back their top deep threat at wide receiver. The team officially activated Marquez Valdes-Scantling from injured reserve on Saturday, providing the green light for the speedy receiver to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Valdes-Scantling missed the last five games. He originally injured his hamstring in the second half of the Packers’ win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3.

The Packers designated him for return from injured reserve earlier this week, giving him an opportunity to practice with the team before returning to the active roster.

During the first three games, Valdes-Scantling caught six passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. At the time of the injury, he led the team in targets of at least 20 yards.

After beating the Arizona Cardinals last week without Valdes-Scantling, Davante Adams and Allen Lazard, the Packers will have all three back on Sunday in Kansas City, giving first-time starting quarterback Jordan Love all his weapons available.

Last season, Valdes-Scantling led the NFL in catches of at least 40 yards and yards per reception. The fourth-year receiver is in the middle of a contract year.
