Packers activate Jared Veldheer to 53-man roster, release Adam Pankey

The Green Bay Packers officially added offensive tackle Jared Veldheer to the 53-man roster on Monday.

Veldheer, who returned to the NFL after retiring in May, was claimed off of waivers from the New England Patriots on Nov. 27 and given a roster exemption. The Packers had until Tuesday to add him to the active roster.

Veldheer, a third-round pick in 2010, has played in 118 games with 113 starts in his NFL career. He figures to give the Packers a veteran backup at both left and right tackle.

To make room, the Packers released offensive lineman Adam Pankey. He was originally signed off of the Tennessee Titans practice squad on Sept. 21. Pankey did not appear in a game for the Packers in 2019.
