Packers’ Aaron Jones recovers necklace with father’s ashes

Aaron Jones had quite the game Monday night, scoring 4 touchdowns as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Detroit Lions, 35-17.

On one of the scores, a necklace with a pendant that contained the ashes from his father Alvin Jones, came off his neck somewhere in the end zone.

“If there was any place to lose it, that’s where my dad would’ve wanted me to lose it,” Jones said after the game. “So I know he’s smiling.”

After the game, the grounds crew and others — ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters was among the searchers — tried to find the necklace and pendant.

Jones said Monday the search was successful. The team trainer discovered the precious piece.

“[He] found it, so we’re perfect,” Jones said to “The Steve Czaban Show” on 97.3 The Game in Milwaukee. “Thank you to him. He was out there until 1:45 [a.m. CT]. It shows how much they care about us.”

Alvin Jones Sr. died of COVID-19 complications at age 56. When asked what he would’ve said to his father, Jones replied: “Just go home and tell him: ‘I did it, Dad.'”
