Pacifica Group launches recruitment drive to create 50 new engineering jobs

North East home services firm Pacifica Group is embarking on a recruitment drive to add 50 engineers to its workforce on the back of continuing growth.

The Houghton-le-Spring company was launched in 2003 by a team of four energy sector experts but has now grown to employ more than 400 people, as a leading home appliance servicing, repair and refurbishing company.

The group operates a number of subsidiaries including Pacifica Home Services, Pacifica Appliance Services and UK Warranty and its flagship brands – 0800 Repair Gas and 0800 Repair – formed as part of Pacifica Home Services and Pacifica Appliance Services, respectively.

0800 Repair works with a number of the largest manufacturers and retailers in the UK, with its network of engineers repairing and installing a wide range of domestic appliances.

Meanwhile, 0800 Repair Gas specialises in the repair, maintenance and installation of heating systems, including boilers, renewable systems and insulation services.

Now, following a period of sustained growth, its co-founder and CEO Kevin Brown has announced the firm is embarking on a recruitment drive to increase its workforce of directly employed engineers during its next financial year from April 2020, by a further 50 engineers.

Recruitment during its current financial year will also take its headcount to more than 500.

The announcement comes as the group –  shortlisted last year at the North East Business Awards in the company of the year category – publishes consolidated group accounts, showing a 13.8% lift in sales from £36m in the year ended March 2019, to £41m in its financial year ending March 2019.

Operating profit also soared, from £37,073 to £1.277m, and Ebitda has also grown to £2.1m from £1.4m.

The accounts mark the fourth year running for consistent growth at the business and projected growth for its financial year ending March 2020 will see turnover reach £53m with an Ebitda in excess of £3m.

Looking ahead, the group said it is committed to growing organically through new and existing client contracts, as well as through broadening its offer to customers.

Kevin Brown, CEO, said: “This has been a strong period of growth for Pacifica Group as we increase our presence in the home energy services and appliance repair sectors.

“We have secured a number of significant contracts and contract renewals, which have bolstered the Group’s performance and are supported by our continued expansion in the housing sector providing services such as central heating installations and renewable energy solutions to the new build and social housing markets.

“We expect these activities to generate further growth in our current financial year, particularly with the installation of home insulation, along with further developing our warranty services division and our domestic appliance and heating system repair operations, which currently generate in excess of 6,000 jobs per week across the UK.

“To meet the increasing demand for our services we are planning to recruit an additional 50 engineers in our next financial year to increase our directly-employed team of field-based specialists to more than 300.”
