Pacifica Group expands footprint south with acquisition of TK Garnham and Sons

Pacifica Group has expanded further into the south and east of England following the acquisition of a domestic appliance business.

The Houghton-le-Spring business has snapped up Suffolk-based TK Garnham and Sons Ltd, which will now become part of Pacifica Appliance Services, one of the UK’s largest appliance repair specialists.

Working closely with manufacturers such Electrolux, Sony, Hisense, Vestel, Howdens (Lamona) and LG, along with insurance providers and major retailers including Argos and Shop Direct, Pacifica carries out more than a quarter of a million repairs each year.

Founded 40 years ago, Ipswich- based TK Garnham has become a successful, family-run appliance repair and service business completing around 25,000 jobs each year working, with manufacturers including Electrolux, Beko and Zanussi.

The company, which employs 30 people, supports customers across East Anglia, central England and the South East.

Current directors Darren and Keith Garnham, sons of founder Terry Garnham, along with the company’s workforce, will remain with the business - joining the team at Pacifica Group, which has more than 250 engineers operating across the country.

The deal forms part of Pacifica Group’s strategic expansion, assisted by investor Synova Capital which has partnered with Pacifica’s founders to support and acquisition-led growth.

Kevin Brown, chief executive of Pacifica Group, said: “TK Garnham has a fantastic reputation in the appliance industry and in the south and east of England, which makes it an ideal addition to Pacifica Appliance Services.

“The acquisition of the business adds more high-quality engineers to our already strong workforce and increases our presence in the South of the country.

“I am also pleased Darren and Keith are joining Pacifica; their experience and market knowledge will be invaluable to delivering further growth to our business.”

Darren Garnham said: “We are very proud to become part of Pacifica Group. It has quickly become a significant player on a national stage, which will benefit our business.

“The infrastructure, resources and additional relationships with manufacturers will support the further growth of our operations in our region, which will add value to the wider expansion of Pacifica Group.”

Pacifica Group was advised on the acquisition by its legal partners Ward Hadaway, led by corporate finance partner James Nightingale.

Mr Nightingale said: “Ward Hadaway is delighted to have supported Kevin and the rest of the Pacifica team on the purchase of TK Garnham and I’m sure it will prove a strong addition to the Pacifica Group and further enhance Pacifica’s excellent reputation nationally.”
