Paisley’s panto had a bumper season – oh, yes, it did.
The PACE production of The Snow Queen at Paisley Arts Centre played to a total crowd of around 8,500 over its run from November 27 to Hogmanay.

The show was loved by both audiences and critics, with one newspaper awarding it top marks in a five-star review.
Grant Mason, chief executive of PACE, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating another hugely successful year for the annual PACE panto at Paisley Arts Centre.
“During 61 shows, we played to audiences of around 8,500 people, including a number of sellout shows.

“We are proud to have donated a number of tickets for local community groups and organisations who might not otherwise have had this experience, and our first relaxed performance was also very well attended.
“The production was met with critical acclaim but, most importantly, the audience feedback received has been better than ever before and we’re thrilled to have brought some festive cheer to everyone who joined us.”
The PACE panto has been running for more than 30 years and has been an unfailing draw for families over all of that time.
For years, the central role of the dame was played by David Wallace, but in the recent years new dame Chris Alexander has had a huge success in the part, being acclaimed for his hilarious mix of gruffness and comic femininity.
He appeared alongside a stellar ensemble cast that included well known theatre, TV, and film faces Duncan Brown, Sarah McCardie, Shannon Swan, and Kara Swinney.
Also appearing were members of Paisley’s renowned youth theatre, whose past members have included stars James McAvoy, Gerard Butler and Paolo Nutini.

And the company’s first-ever relaxed performance was billed as ideal for anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including those with autism, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability.
