Pace may change routes to Naperville Metra station

March 15--Naperville commuters are invited to upcoming public meetings to discuss proposed changes in Pace Suburban Bus service to the city's Metra station.

Behind the change is a proposed all-day route connecting the Naperville Metra Station with Yorktown Center in Lombard via Ogden Avenue, according to city staff reports. To serve the new route, Pace is suggesting changes to existing routes in Naperville and other communities.

In Naperville, that includes merging routes 684-Maplebrook and 686-Old Farm into one, and routes 688-Huntington and 689-Hobson Village into another. Route 714, which links Naperville Metra Station to College of DuPage, could be realigned along Diehl Road instead of Ogden Avenue.

The two combined Pace routes would serve the same neighborhoods as the four originals, reports say.

Meetings to discuss the changes are scheduled for:

-- 5 p.m. March 29, Naperville Municipal Center, 400 Eagle St., Naperville

-- 5 p.m. March 30, Lisle Village Hall board room, 925 Burlington Ave., Lisle

-- 5 p.m. March 31, Downers Grove Village Hall council chambers, 801 Burlington Ave., Downers Grove

"We would encourage commuters to come to one of the public meetings," said Naperville spokeswoman Linda LaCloche.
