Pablo Zabaleta says he thinks Sergio Aguero will join Barcelona when he leaves Manchester City at the end of the season.
City's record goalscorer is set to depart the club when his contract expires in the summer having seen his game time reduced this season due to injuries and a change in tactics from Pep Guardiola, who has favoured playing with a false nine as opposed to a centre-forward.
Aguero has been tipped to join Barcelona and Zabaleta, his former teammate at City and for Argentina, can see why there have been links.
The former City defender argued that, despite his injury record this season, Aguero can still be a force at the top level of football, and has at least two more seasons of being a regular goalscorer.
"I see him at Barcelona," he said on a Spanish radio show (via Sport).
"I'm sure that, as soon as he gets well, he will go back to being the player we have seen for years.
"If he can be physically fit and not have injuries that prevent him from being consistent throughout the season, he can still have at least two good years.
"He is a player who is decisive within the penalty area. We have already seen him during these years in England, scoring more than 20 goals per season and very important goals."
Aguero himself has previously responded to links with Barca.
Speaking on his official Twitch channel in March, Aguero labelled the transfer talk as premature.
"They are all writing Barca, Barca, Barca," he said.
"Let's hold on a little, have a look. Stop. We are still with City."
