Pablo Zabaleta makes Pep Guardiola prediction that will please Man City fans

West Ham defender Pablo Zabaleta has stated he has faith that Pep Guardiola will remain at Man City and carry on his quest for more silverware.

The former City cult-hero was a crucial member of the 2012 and 2014 Premier League title wins, playing a huge part from full-back and winning over fans with his tenacious and gutsy performances.

The Argentine defender wrote his name into club folklore after signing from Espanyol in 2008.

He played in Roberto Mancini and Manuel Pellegrini’s trophy-laden sides and Zabaleta rates Guardiola in the same bracket despite being under his tutelage for only one campaign.

Speaking to The Offside Rule podcast, the 34-year-old made his respect for the former Barcelona manager known.

“He's very good, he's one of the best managers for sure,” exclaimed the defender.

“I spent one season with him, the first season for Pep in England. We did some amazing stuff, but also we made a few mistakes that cost us winning the Premier League or the Champions League,"

"For a club like Manchester City, finishing the season without trophies is something that, as a player, hurts. When you're there, you play to win trophies.”

Moving on a free transfer to West Ham in 2017, Zabaleta had to admire City’s Centurions team from a distance - but has praised Guardiola for implementing his passing philosophy and building a great side.

"Last season, the way City won the league, they have been playing some of the best football we have seen in the last few years in the Premier League.

"I'm sure that he will stay at Manchester City, he will keep improving the team and keep winning trophies."
