Pablo Sandoval called up to Giants' 25-man roster

Three years after he won a World Series title with the Giants, Pablo Sandoval will officially be back in a San Francisco Giants uniform.

Brandon Belt went on the 7-day concussion disabled list after being hit in the head with a 78-mph curveball on Friday, which led the Giants to call up Sandoval.

Sandoval is expected to start Saturday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks if he arrives in time from Omaha, where the Sacramento River Cats are playing, according to SFGate.com.

Sandoval has played 12 games in the minors and has been underwhelming so far. He was hitting .207 with two-extra base hits for the Sacramento River Cats and hit .222 with two singles in nine at-bats for Class-A San Jose, according to SFGate.com.

The Giants signed Sandoval on July 22 after the Boston Red Sox released him. In 32 games with the Red Sox, Sandoval batted .212 with four home runs and 12 RBIs.

Sandoval played for the Giants from 2008 to 2014.
