Pablo Mari reacts on Instagram after making first Arsenal appearance since January loan move

Pablo Mari is up and running for Arsenal.

One of two arrivals at the Emirates Stadium during the January transfer window, the central defender - who is on loan from Flamengo - played 45 minutes for the U23's against Chelsea on Monday night.

Having missed out against Newcastle United in the Premier League at the weekend, this was Mari's first outing in Arsenal colours.

Furthermore, it was also his first taste of action at any level since December.

That came in the Club World Cup final against Liverpool where Flamengo were beaten by Roberto Firmino's winning goal in extra-time.

Mari started alongside Rob Holding at Meadow Park and football.london were in attendance for the Premier League 2 encounter and were quite impressed with how the Spaniard got on.

And it would appear that Mari enjoyed his first run out for the north London outfit.

Following the game, he took to social media and uploaded an image to his Instagram stories which read: "Getting some minutes with our U23's."

With 45 minutes under his belt, Mari's first-team bow could come on Thursday night in the Europa League away at Olympiacos as hinted at by Arteta last week.

"Pablo hasn't competed since the end of December," Arteta stated in his pre-Newcastle press conference. "He had a little issue. He's been training with us the last week or so in and out a little bit. He's been looking good.

"I think this game will come a little bit too early for him but I expect him to start joining the squad in the next week or so."
