Pablo Mari exit, Gabriel Martinelli admission, Yeremy Pino 'interest', Sandro Tonali links

With three weeks to go in the transfer window Arsenal have got themselves into a pretty favourable position when compared to previous years. The Gunners did most of their business relatively early bringing in Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko comfortably ahead of the start of the Premier League season. Edu 's work though is far from over.

The Arsenal focus is now on outgoings as they seek to trim down a squad that Mikel Arteta has said he feels is too big. "We have a large squad," the Spaniard said last month. "We have to make some decisions on the players that we're not going to be using consistently and be fair and straight with them and that's a process that is going to start very soon as well. We have to, and now we have to make things happen."

Thus far Nuno Tavares, Arthur Okonkwo, Flo Balogun, and Charlie Patino have left on loan, while Lucas Torreira has moved to Galatasaray on a permanent deal. Pablo Mari is now set to follow them out the exit door and is set to complete a loan move to Monza with an obligation to buy for €7 million on the proviso that they stay in Seire A. Meanwhile Runar Alex Runarsson is edging closer to a move to Turkey and the Gunners are willing to listen to offers for Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Despite all that work to do though they still remain hopeful of securing a few more incomings. "It’s incredible how much business the club has already done across the Premier League and it shows how competitive this is. It’s not gonna stop that," Arteta said last week. "Players are going to have to leave, some others to move and everything is open still."

The positions where Arsenal are keen to strengthen would appear to be the forward and central midfield areas. With this in mind they have been linked with Villarreal's Yeremy Pino and AC Milan's Sandro Tonali in recent days.

Away from transfers the club's Amazon All or Nothing documentary series saw episodes four to six released on Thursday. There is plenty of focus on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 's exit in them, while Gabriel Martinelli also comes out with plenty of praise, with assistant coach Steve Round admitting that he loves working with the Brazilian.
