Pablo Hernandez reveals what Marcelo Bielsa helped him achieve at Leeds United

Leeds United star Pablo Hernandez has stated he is 'lucky' that the path of his career crossed with Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United and believes the Whites boss was responsible for the best season of his career.

The experienced Spaniard has represented a host of clubs during his long career, which ranges across a number of Spanish clubs and as far afield as the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

In the Middle East at the age of 29, few would have expected Hernandez's career to lead him back to elite level football, particularly at Leeds' level and fighting for promotion to the Championship.

That is how it has panned out though, with Hernandez becoming a star at Elland Road after initially arriving on loan before making the switch permanent in 2017, and he believes he is fortunate to have crossed paths with Bielsa.

“Football crosses paths and I’ve been lucky to meet Bielsa,” the experienced midfielder told Spanish publication Marca.

“He came to my career at 33 years old, you think you don’t have much more to learn as a footballer nor progress, and with Marcelo you learn every day. Without going any further I think last season was the best of my career.”

Hernandez was also asked to name his best teammate from every club he has played for, selecting Ezgjan Alioski from the Whites, and expressed his desire to retire with Castellon, the club from his hometown.
