Here is the Leeds United morning digest on Friday, June 19.
Leeds injury and suspension list
Leeds return to Championship action on Sunday as they travel to Cardiff City but Marcelo Bielsa’s side will be without a few players.
The Whites will be looking to secure promotion to the Premier League, as they currently sit top of the second-tier.
However, Bielsa will be unable to pick Pablo Hernandez, Jean-Kevin Augustin and Adam Forshaw, who are all injured.
Kiko Casilla is still suspended, but Kalvin Phillips will be available for selection after returning from a knock picked up in February.
Cardiff boss coy on fitness concerns
Cardiff manager Neil Harris has refused to go into detail about his side’s fitness concerns ahead of their home match against table-topping Leeds on Sunday.
It’s been three-and-a-half months since a Championship game has been played, and every side will be struggling for peak fitness.
The Bluebirds are set to be without a few players - just like the Whites - but Harris is not going into too much detail about his side’s absentees.
“I’ve mentioned a few players are going to be a bit short of match fitness. I’m not going to give too much away to allow the opposition time to prepare for us,” Harris said in his pre-match press conference.
Mills thinks Villa should have replicated Leeds’ action
Danny Mills believes Aston Villa should have allowed Sheffield United to score after being denied an obvious goal - much like Leeds did against Villa last season.
Oliver Norwood’s free-kick clearly went over the line in Wednesday’s goalless draw, but after a mess up with the goal-line technology, the goal was not given.
Last season, Leeds scored after Jonathan Kodjia was on the floor injured - instead of kicking the ball out of play - and Bielsa ordered his team to let Villa score unopposed.
Mills accused Villa of double standards on Sky Sports’ The Football Show: “Last season, Aston Villa were outraged because the decision went against them. Bielsa ordered his players to score.
“Aston Villa were pretty much applauding Leeds and saying it was the right thing to do. Suddenly, now it’s the other way round they’ve gone, ‘Nah, not doing it’.”
