Pablo Hernandez and Helder Costa start for Leeds United's U23s as they look to maintain top spot

Pablo Hernandez starts for Leeds United's under-23s this afternoon when they take on Fulham at Thorp Arch.

Hernandez made his first-team return in last week's 5-2 win over Newcastle United, when he came on for the final eight minutes and provided two assists for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

The Spaniard now gets the chance to get some more minutes under his belt ahead of the first-team's Elland Road match against Burnley on Sunday, where Leeds will look to bounce back from the humbling 6-2 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The veteran playmaker is joined by fellow first-teamers Helder Costa, Tyler Roberts and Ian Poveda in today's line-up, with Leif Davis, who came on yesterday at Old Trafford, also starting.

Leading goalscorer Sam Greenwood will be hoping to add to his six strikes so far this term and looks set to play in the midfield role that he filled last time out against Aston Villa.

Mark Jackson’s side know that a point against Fulham this afternoon will ensure they end the year at the top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 table, which would be a fine achievement given it is their first year in the competition. Follow the action here.

Leeds United U23s: Caprile, Drameh, Davis, Jenkins, Cresswell, Casey, Poveda, Greenwood, Roberts, Hernandez, Costs

Subs: Christy, Kenneh, Huggins, Gelhardt, Kamwa.
