Pablo Escobar's nephew claims 'vision' led him to £14m stash in uncle's home

Pablo Escobar's nephew has said he found $18m (£14m) hidden in the wall of one of his uncle's houses after a "vision" led him to it.

Nicolás Escobar, who has lived in the apartment he found the stash in for the past five years, told Colombian media it was not the first time he had found money hidden in one of the notorious drug lord's homes.

At his peak, Pablo Escobar was estimated by Forbes to be the 7th richest person in the world, and he is rumoured to have hidden millions of dollars.

He was a major kingpin in Colombia's cocaine trade, and even ran for president. He died in a shoot out with police in 1993

Nicolás told Colombian TV channel Red+ Noticias he saw repeatedly saw a man "entering and disappearing" at the spot where the money was hidden.

"Every time I sat in the dining room and looked towards the car park, I saw a man entering the place and disappearing," he said.

"The smell [inside] was astonishing. A smell 100 times worse than something that had died."

Some of the bank notes were unusable (AP)

While he said that some of the bank notes were unusable, he did not disclose the value of the rest of the stash.

Nicolás added that he also found a typewriter, gold pen, a camera, satellite phones and an undeveloped film roll.
