Pablo Escobar's brother wins legal battle over drug lord's domain name

The brother of notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar has won a legal battle to use the killer's name as a web domain - and plans to sell merchandise.

Roberto Escobar intends to use www.PabloEscobar.com to hawk items including branded flamethrowers.

The current domain owner had demanded $3million to hand it over, but the The National Arbitration Forum sided with Roberto, who is kinown as 'El Osito'.

The site will sell items for the cartel leader's holding company, Escobar Inc when it opens next year.

Roberto, a co-founder of the company, had vowed to fight "anyone that is in our way".

After winning his battle he said:  "I am happy.

"Escobar Inc is the only true owner of anything relating to Pablo Escobar. Infringers need to stop."

And in an ominous statement, a senior figure in the company has vowed to go after Elon Musk in a dispute over an Escobar flamethrower.

The firm alleges that Musk stole the idea for his own venture, called The Boring Company.

Roberto claims one of Musk's employees copied the idea on a visit to Colombia in 2017.

Chief operating officer Daniel Reitberg told  The Next Web : "Elon Musk will go down soon, we are preparing some huge cases against him.

"He will regret not paying us, just like everyone else has regretted it."

He said anyone that plans to sell any Escobar merchandise must "consult" with the company.

In a statement chief executive Olof Gustaffson said: “Pablo Escobar spent hundreds of millions of dollars maintaining his image. We are the only true rights holders of anything relating to Pablo Escobar.

“People need to realize this and contact us for licensing deals. Anybody that does anything relating to Pablo Escobar without our consent will be punished. We are not scared to put up a legal fight for years if that is what it takes.”
