PA Holds Israeli Government Accountable for Settlers’ Crimes

The Palestinian Authority has stressed that the Israeli government, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is fully responsible for the “violations and crimes committed by the occupation and its settlers”.

It also held the government accountable for the expansionist colonial settlement crime, its consequences, and effects on achieving peace.

The PA further accused the international community of remaining silent despite violations that rise to the level of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

A Foreign Ministry statement denounced the ongoing settlement escalation, forced displacement, and demolition of Palestinian homes and establishments, in light of the clear gradual annexation of Palestinian lands.

The statement was published one day ahead of Netanyahu’s expected visit to Hebron to inaugurate an archeological site in Susiya settlement, which sits atop private Palestinian lands.

The coordinator of the protection and resilience committees in southern Hebron, Fouad al-Amoor, considered the Premier’s visit a permit for settlers to increase their invasion and plunder of the citizens’ lands.

Head of the Susiya village council Jihad al-Nawajaa, for his part, rejected this visit, saying that it aims to consecrate settlements, Judaize the land, and expel citizens.

It is also a reward for settlers, whose attacks on the land, citizens, and farmers have escalated, he noted, citing the most recent attack against Saeed Awad and his family in the Shiib al-Batim area.
