P-plater fined after driving 133km/h past cop car

A 21-year-old p-plater has allegedly sped past an unmarked police car at 133 kilometres per hour.

The Harrison man was driving fast in an 80km/h zone on Belconnen Way in Aranda on Thursday, December 23, ACT police say.

He was driving a black BMW 335i sedan when he allegedly exceeded the speed limit by more than 45 kilometres per hour.

The driver will be fined $1841 and will lose 6 demerit points, ACT Policing said.

His provisional licence will be suspended for three months.

ACT Policing urge the public to slow down and remind the public that double demerit points begin at midnight Thursday.
