P-plater caught drink-driving again 25 minutes after first arrest

A Canberra P-plater has been caught drink-driving just 25 minutes after she was released by police following a previous drink-driving arrest earlier that night.

The driver, 22-year-old Darcy Laundess, was stopped for a random breath test on Coulter Drive in Belconnen at 12.35am on Sunday, and returned a positive result.

She was taken to Belconnen police station where she returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.148.

The legal limit for P-plate drivers is zero.

Ms Laundess' licence was suspended for 90 days and she was released from custody at 1.20am.

Police then spotted her driving the same car on Southern Cross Drive at 1.45am, and pulled her over.

Ms Laundess was charged with two counts of drink-driving and driving while suspended. She did not enter pleas to the charges in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
