P-plate driver's licence suspended after allegedly going more than 150kmh

A P-plate driver's licence has been suspended after he was allegedly caught driving about 45kmh over the speed limit on the M1.

A highway patrol officer was driving south on the M1 Motorway near Mooney Mooney about 3.40pm on Monday June 16 when they were overtaken by a vehicle in the left lane.

After speed checking that vehicle, officers allegedly found that it was travelling at 151kmh.

Police stopped the Subaru WRX a short time later and spoke to the driver who was driving with a P2 provisional licence.

The 22-year-old male driver was issued an infringement notice for P2 driver exceed speed limit over 45kmh.

He was fined $3054 and given seven demerit points and his driver's licence was also suspended for six months.
