P&O Ferries full list of cancellations this weekend and your refund rights explained

P&O Ferries has suspended its services this weekend and told customers that they will need to find their own alternatives with other ferry operators.

The scandal-hit firm has been suspending services since March after it fired 800 staff members, in a move that has sparked fury after crew members were replaced by agency workers.

The latest disruption will come as a blow for Brits planning Easter holidays, with the operator's Dover-Calais route affected.

A statement shared on the company's Twitter account confirmed that the suspension would kick off today (April 8) and last through to Sunday evening.

Customers have been advised to rebook directly with another operator before arriving at the port. P&O Ferries said it would refund all affected passengers, and also pay back the difference in cost between their original P&O ticket and their new booking with another operator.

In the first wave of cancellations, P&O Ferries had offered customers alternative routes on DFDS services.

However, for this weekend DFDS has warned customers that it has "no availability for P&O customers" over the weekend, and has urged people not to travel to their port without a confirmed reservation.

Can I get my money back?

P&O Ferries has said it will refund all customers who were due to travel on its Dover-Calais services, and will also pay the difference in cost between your original P&O Ferries booking, and the cost of your new ticket with a different operator.

Passengers can send their claims to help@poferries.com.

However, it's worth noting this only applies for customers due to travel between Friday and Sunday.

P&O Ferries has suspended services this weekend (PA)

According to ABTA : "If your ferry operator expects your departure to be cancelled, the operator should inform you as soon as possible. If this is on the day of travel, you should be informed no later than 30 minutes after your scheduled time of departure."

The ferry operator should also offer either an alternative way of transport, or a refund for journeys which it has cancelled.

Which P&O Ferries routes are cancelled?

All services between Dover and Calais have been suspended for travel from today (April 8) through to 11.59pm on Sunday. The ferry operator has asked passengers to re-book directly with another operator.

P&O Ferries has also said it will refund passengers for their tickets, and then pay the difference in cost between your original P&O booking and your new booking with a different operator.

Services between Cairnyarn and Larne are also currently suspended. Customers are being told to find alternatives themselves.

For those looking to travel between Hull and Rotterdam, there have been some sailings going ahead, but also a number of cancellations - check with P&O Ferries directly for updates to your journey.

Services between Liverpool and Dublin are currently expected to sail on time.

Alternatives to P&O Ferries

Dover-Calais

DFDS is one of your best bets for Dover-Calais routes, although it's worth noting that the company warned it has "no availability" for P&O customers, so don't travel to the port unless you have a confirmed reservation.

Irish Ferries also offers Dover-Calais routes, while Brittany Ferries offers a number of routes to France as well as Spain.

Liverpool-Dublin , Hull-Rotterdam and Cairnryan-Larne

Although there are no direct alternatives, ferry operators such as Stena Line and Irish Ferries do offer journeys to some of these destinations. You can also find routes to alternative ports from which you can drive to your end destination - although be prepared for extra travel time.
