P.J. Tucker moves well on ankle in workout with Carmelo Anthony

It was reported earlier this week that Houston Rockets forward P.J. Tucker could miss occasional time early in training camp as he continues rehabilitating the sprained left ankle that he suffered in August with the U.S. Men’s Basketball National Team.

But in new workout clips posted by NBA skills coach Chris Brickley, Tucker appears to be moving around on the ankle quite well.

At various points in the Instagram videos, which also feature former Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony in the same drills, Tucker can be sprinting down court, shooting jump shots, and even pushing off the ankle enough to throw down a dunk.

Best known for his defense and toughness, Tucker was Houston’s only player to start all 82 regular-season games and 11 postseason games last season. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 7.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game while hitting 37.7% on three-pointers.

Tucker and the rest of the current Rockets will report to Houston for Friday’s Media Day, followed by the official opening of training camp for the 2019-20 NBA season on Saturday. It remains to be seen exactly how much Tucker will participate early in camp, but his workout footage with Anthony certainly seems to be an encouraging sign.
