Ozzy Osbourne revealed his funeral plans before his death

Ozzy Osbourne spoke about what he wanted for his funeral before his death.

The Black Sabbath singer passed away yesterday at the age of 76 “surrounded by love” - and though his funeral plans have not yet been confirmed, Ozzy has previously said he wanted his funeral to be an occasion to say “thanks”, and not a “mope fest”.

“There'll be no harping on the bad times,” he told The Times in 2011.

“It's worth remembering that a lot of people see nothing but misery their whole lives, so by any measure, most of us in this country - especially rock stars like me - are very lucky.

“That's why I don't want my funeral to be sad, I want it to be a time to say 'thanks'.”

In the same interview, he also stressed he wasn’t too fussy about the music choices.

“I honestly don't care what they play at my funeral; they can put on a medley of Justin Bieber, Susan Boyle and We Are the Diddymen if it makes 'em happy,” he said.

He also joked that he'd like to play a prank to cheer people up, like playing a video of him asking a doctor for a second opinion on his death.

But in 2016, he narrowed down the playlist for his funeral - and said he’d probably like to play something from The Beatles.

“I really need a few more years to think this over, but probably something from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band or Revolver,” he told NME.

But he definitely didn’t “want my f***ing greatest hits album”.

“I never ever play that thing, I'm f***ing embarrassed about it,” he added. “And I definitely don't want a f***ing happy song - I'm dead.”

Ozzy’s death comes just weeks after he took to the stage one final time with his bandmates at Villa Park in Birmingham.

In a statement, his family announced: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.

“We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
