Sharon Osbourne has shared an update on husband Ozzy’s condition, telling fans he is finally breathing on his own.

The Black Sabbath rocker was admitted to hospital in Los Angeles last week after suffering from complications from flu and bronchitis .

Sharon revealed Ozzy is on the mend and thanked people for their support for the 70-year-old during an appearance on US chat show The Talk.

“He's doing great,” she said. “He's out of ICU and he's doing good. He's breathing on his own.

“I just want to say a huge thank you to everybody that has reached out with good wishes. [Ozzy] is overcome by the response that he’s had, and it’s kind of bittersweet because he’s so overwhelmed with it but he’s sad too.”

Sharon also thanked fans for their "touching thoughfulness" and said she has been left "overwhelmed" by the outpouring.

Sharon had previously used Twitter to update fans on Ozzy’s wellbeing, telling fans that hospitalisation was the “best way to get him on a quicker road to recover”.

The rocker was forced to postpone the UK and European leg of his No More Tour 2 tour after falling ill, leaving him “completely devastated”.

“I’m completely devastated for having to postpone the European leg of my tour,” Osbourne told PEOPLE. “It just seems that since October everything I touch has turned to s***.

“First the staph infection in my thumb and now coming down with the flu and bronchitis. I want to apologise to all of my fans who have been so loyal over the years, my band, my crew and to Judas Priest for letting you all down.”

He promised fans he is currently in talks to reschedule dates for September, finishing: “Again, I apologise to everyone. God Bless. Love you all, Ozzy.”
