'Ozil levels of hype' - Arsenal fans go nuts as Edu makes Martin Odegaard transfer move

Arsenal are in the market for additions before the January transfer window closes in less than two weeks and a creative midfielder is top of the agenda.

The Gunners have struggled to create chances in the final third this season, though have seen a recent boost following Emile Smith Rowe's excellent rise.

While Mesut Ozil has been an outcast in the squad post-lockdown last year, his imminent exit has truly handled the mantle down to the next figure to pull the strings in Mikel Arteta's squad.

Smith Rowe has shown plenty of potential and the signs are promising but relying on him too quickly could be a mistake, hence why new additions are being considered.

According to Sky Sports, Real Madrid's Martin Odegaard is among them and it's reported that Arsenal have made an approach to land the 22-year-old playmaker.

The Denmark international shone on loan with Real Sociedad last season, who are the favourites to secure his services once again.

Odegaard has requested to leave Madrid this month following limited opportunities, playing just five minutes of football since the start of December.

Whilst beating Sociedad to a deal will be a tough task, with it already indicated negotiations are at an advanced stage, many Arsenal fans believe their club should make a move.

If the Gunners were to pull off a move, it would see them utilise the relationship with Los Blancos that blossomed with the deals for Dani Ceballos.
