Ozark star Peter Mullan hailed as 'hero' by Glasgow cyclist as actor rushes to help him after gruesome fall

A cyclist enjoyed a ‘bittersweet moment’ as he sustained a gruesome injury flipping over his handlebars- but had his ‘hero’ Peter Mullan to wait on an ambulance with him.

Matt Cleland dislocated his AC joint between the collarbone and shoulder after skidding down a hill in Queen’s Park Glasgow when the famous Scots legend came to his aid.

The 24-year-old was left in agony but couldn’t believe the Ozark actor had stopped and offered to help after witnessing the horror fall.

Matt said: “I was going far too fast and my wheels skidded near the bottom and I did a front flip over the handlebars onto the concrete.

“I jumped up at first in shock then had to lie back down, there was a few people asking if I was okay but wasn’t really in any condition to acknowledge everyone

“Then a guy started speaking to me but I wasn’t even looking at him I was just responding, he stood for a good 10 minutes waiting on the ambulance and asking if I’d like anything from the shop water etc, I turned the offer down and he stood for another few minutes.

“When he was walking away someone told me that it was Peter Mullan so straight away I shouted him back told him I was a fan and asked for a picture.

Peter Mullan even joined in for a social distance picture with Matt (Supplied)

“He was reluctant at first because of the virus but I said well keep our distance when will you get the chance of a picture like that again.”

“He kindly obliged and 'm sure he said it’s one of the best pictures he’s ever been asked to take with someone.

“He was a class guy and showed genuine concern for someone he doesn’t even know, he’s a hero.”

Matt was over the moon as Peter who he described as ‘an unbelievable talent’ waited with him for 25 minutes till paramedics took him to the the Queen Elizabeth hospital.

Matt added: “It’s the AC joint between the collar bone and shoulder that’s dislocated, I’m in a sling just now and I’ve to go back to hospital next Wednesday so they can access it again I think if it’s not setting properly itself they’ll need to give it a wee push on the right direction.”

“A lot of people showed concern which I’m really thankful for but not all of them were Peter Mullan.”
