Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain believes that Harry Kane will overtake Wayne Rooney to become England's record goalscorer but joked that he should also be involved in the conversation.
Kane's hat-trick against Bulgaria on Saturday at Wembley means the 26-year-old England captain has now scored 25 goals for the nation in just 40 matches.
He fired home two penalties and swept home from close range, also setting up Raheem Sterling's goal with a run and low cross in the 4-0 victory.
That made it six goals in five matches so far for club and country for Kane.
Rooney netted 53 goals in 120 matches for his country and Liverpool midfielder and former Arsenal man Oxlade-Chamberlain was asked on England's Instagram story on Sunday whether Kane will soon take the record.
"How many has he got? 28? 25 in 40? Yeah, I think he can definitely do that, I'm more disappointed I haven't been thrown in the conversation personally. I've got a chance!" he joked.
Oxlade-Chamberlain, who has battled back from a serious knee injury, has scored six goals in 33 appearances for England.
Both he and Kane will likely be involved in England's second Euro 2020 qualifier of the international break against Kosovo on Tuesday night.
