Oxgangs Road North 'stabbing': Teenager rushed to hospital after serious assault in Edinburgh

A teenager has been rushed to hospital following a reported "stabbing" on Oxgangs Road North.

Police say that a 19-year-old man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary after being seriously assaulted while on the busy route.

According to our sister title the Daily Record, an eyewitness said the victim was 'stabbed in the head', with emergency services rushing to the scene, close to Colinton Mains Park and the Scotmid Co-operative store.

Officers have not confirmed the nature of the assault, and say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 5.50pm on Tuesday, 25 February, 2020, following reports of a serious assault on Oxgangs Road North, Edinburgh.

"Emergency services attended and 19-year-old man has been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment and enquiries are ongoing.

"If anyone has any information relating to this incident, Police Scotland can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 2780 of Tuesday, 25 February, 2020."
