Oxford United comment on Cardiff City interest in Gavin Whyte as scout reportedly watches Fulham match

Oxford United boss Karl Robinson has commented on speculation surrounding winger Gavin Whyte.

There has been a great deal of interest in the Northern Irishman, with The U's fielding a number of calls over his availability.

But Robinson has confirmed that Cardiff City aren't one of the interest parties, despite media reports of a £1.5million bid for the 23-year-old.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw with Fulham on Tuesday night, Robinson said : “I know Neil (Warnock), so if there is he’ll call me. That’s the first time I’ve heard of that.

“We’ve turned down a lot of offers for Gavin and people know where we stand.

“We know people like him. I love a lot of players too – but I don’t get them all.”

The Oxford Mail report that the Bluebirds did have a scout at Oxford's game against the Cottagers at the Kassam Stadium, but Whyte did not feature due to injury.

Robinson had previously spoken about Whyte, valuing him closer to the £4million mark.

Another winger would surely not be Warnock's priority this summer, with enough options out wide at present and with more pressing concerns up front.

Cardiff have added Joe Day, Curtis Nelson and Will Vaulks to their squad already, with links to Bordeaux's .
