Oxford Circus incident: Casualty on track closes London underground station

Oxford Circus underground station has been closed due to a casualty on the track.

Fire Services and ambulances are attending the scene at the busy station in London, located on Oxford Street. 

TFL's Central Line tweeted at around 1pm: "If travelling via Oxford Circus, the station is closed while emergency services deal with a casualty on the track.

"Trains will not be stopping in both directions."

The Victoria Line is partially closed due to the incident.

They tweeted: "Closed to the northbound Victoria line trains only due to an earlier customer incident."

Pictures and videos of the chaos emerged on social media as tourists and commuters struggle to find alternative transport.

Firefighters have set up a cordon at all station exits.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police told Mirror Online: "Officers were called to Oxford Circus Underground station at 12.36pm today following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
