A puppy was handed to vets to be put down after her owners wouldn't pay for a life-saving operation - before it transpired she was pregnant.
Adorable Roxy the French bulldog has been saved from death and is now expecting a litter of her own at just one year old.
But a Hull dog shelter looking after the pup are now appealing to the public for help as it turns out she will need a caesarean section to deliver the litter.
Hull Animal Welfare Trust has issued the plea for donations after the shock scan which revealed she was expecting, reports Hull Live.
The charity based in South Cave took to social media to spread the appeal to help Roxy have her puppies safely.
Unfortunately, the Trust are not yet taking adoption applications for Roxy or her pups, however.
Writing on Facebook, the charity said: "She was handed into the vets to be put to sleep by her owners as they did not want to pay for treatment for a prolapse.
"The vets thankfully had her signed over and called us to come and save her. We took her straight to our vets who scanned her , and it turns out that she is very soon going to become a mummy.... At just 1 year old.
"Roxy will need a caesarean in order for her to safely have her puppies. This is where we are asking for your help.
"Please could you spare a little to help us pay for her operation ?? We would be very grateful for your support and we do appreciate it is an expensive time of year for everyone."
