Owners 'terrified' after cars deliberately set on fire in Coatbridge driveway

An appeal for witnesses has been launched after two cars were set on fire in the driveway of a Townhead house.

The owners of the Mercedes and BMW were left "terrified" by the ordeal, which happened outside a property in Tantallon Drive around 2am this morning (Sunday, September 22).

Police are now appealing for witnesses and believe the blaze was deliberate.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Lawrence, Coatbridge CID, said: "This was a terrifying experience for the owners of these vehicles.

"Enquiries are underway and I would ask anyone who was in the area in the early hours of Sunday morning and saw or heard anything suspicious to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 0630 of 22 September 2019.

"Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given in confidence."
