Owners of West Lothian distillery confirm 'difficult decision' to sell business

A popular gin distillery that's within an hour of Edinburgh has been put on the market by its owners.

Alyson and Ross Jamieson, the couple behind the successful Linlithgow Distillery, posted on the official Facebook for the brand that they had decided to sell the distillery, which produces the LinGin and LinGin Colours range of spirits, as they have decided to retire.

In the post, they wrote: "There are rumours going around that we have sold the Distillery. To put this to bed, we haven’t. However, it is true we have taken the difficult decision and decided now is the time to retire.

"As such, the Distillery is available for Sale. So if you are interested in buying a multi-award-winning Distillery, please get in touch."

The pair were looking to bring back distilling to the Royal Burgh when they originally looked into creating recipes for a new gin in 2016 before eventually launching their ever-popular LinGin in 2018.

They then followed up with the Four Marys range in ode to the fact Linlithgow was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots before adding the vibrant LinGin Colours range in 2020, with 4 flavoured gins that were capable of being used to create a whopping 15 different flavour combinations.

Alyson confirmed that they've already had a lot of interest and are hopeful that the brand will be able to keep going.

Fans took time out to wish them well on their retirement from the industry, with one writing: "Sad to hear that but I am sure you will both enjoy your retirement."

While another added "Difficult decision but what a business you've built up, happy retirement to you both."
