Owners of Glasgow institution The Wee Curry shop find location for new venture

Great news for Glasgow foodies who loved paying a visit to former city institution The Wee Curry Shop in Garnethill.

Owners the Negi family have confirmed that they will be opening a new restaurant in the near future - a stone's throw from where the Buccleuch Street spot was located.

They have kept the vow they made to return back in December last year after the shutters went down on Indian favourite for the last time, 13 years after they first started serving up their delicious authentic Indian curries and naan breads.

The new, as yet unnamed restaurant will be located round the corner from the old spot on Cambridge Street in the space vacated by Italian restaurant Azzuri next door to Jackson's pub.

No opening date has been confirmed, with owners saying it will take over a month for them to renovate the space to be ready to welcome diners.

They told Glasgow Live: "It will take around one and half months to renovate the restaurant and get it ready for sit in purposes. We are working had to get the kitchen ready in order to start the takeaway and delivery first.

"We can't wait to welcome everyone back and serve up our delicious authentic Indian curries and naan breads."

We'll keep you posted as to an exact date for when they reopen. Great news for Glasgow tummies.
