The owners of a donut shop have offered a reward to anyone who can help identify a customer who used their sink as a toilet - with the plug left in. They have offered a reward to anyone who can help identify the culprit.
Harry's Handcrafted Donuts in Darlington issued the appeal via its Facebook page. Revealing that someone had used their coffee shop sink as a urinal, a reward of free donuts was put up for anyone who could help them find the guilty person.
The Facebook post jokingly reminded people that "for future reference, anything with a tap on it probably isn't a urinal". The incident, which happened on a busy Saturday of trading, left the team wondering why the person in question thought it was an acceptable thing to do.
Managing director, Jack Beadle said: "I’d be interested to know why anyone would think it was a good idea or thought it would be funny to do? Our staff work hard and don’t need to deal with that kind of thing on one of our busiest Saturdays to date."
Many customers have condemned the guilty party in comments on the post, but others couldn't resist jokingly offering up innocent friends or family members as the culprit in order to bag the reward. One user, reports TeessideLive, even commented: "It was me, send me the donuts."
Harry's Handcrafted Donuts is a popular spot for locals and visitors to Darlington and the store often sells out before the day is over. There is also a coffee shop where the team sells the homemade delicacies in a variety of different flavours.
Staff in the coffee shop were left to clean the mess in the sink, which was described as "pretty grim". The team is now hoping to catch the culprit so they can be held responsible for the faux pas - and anyone willing to help will be rewarded.
The post stated: "Free box of doughnuts in it for anyone with any info on who it was so we can publicly shame them."
