Owners 'devastated' after Lhasa Apso puppy stolen from van in broad daylight by callous dog nappers

A Lhasa Apso puppy was snatched from a van in broad daylight in Glasgow on Sunday afternoon.

The 12-week-old pooch, named Barney Bear, was stolen by callous dog nappers around 12.30pm from a black VW Transporter van parked outside of Sher Brothers cash and carry on Stromness Street.

Police have now launched an investigation into the theft.

Barney Bear has a white patch on his chest, four white paws and a black tip on his tail.

His devastated owners have urged people to scour Gumtree in a desperate bid to bring him back home.

In a social media post one of Barney Bear's owners said: "Devastated to say Barney Bear our 12 week old pup was stolen today from our van in Glasgow. Four white paws black tip on his tail, white chest.

"Please share, look on gumtree. We need him home."

Charity Harvey's Army, set up to reunite owners with lost or stolen pets, has also launched a social media campaign to help find Barney Bear.

They are urging people in the area at the time to check CCTV, doorbell and dash cam footage.

Information can also be provided to the charity anonymously on 07833727975.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report that a handbag and white puppy was stolen from a black VW Transporter van on Stromness Street, Glasgow, around 12.30pm on Sunday, 5 September.

"Anyone who has any information or saw anything suspicious around that time should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 1695 of 5 September."
