Tails were wagging among the prize pooches who took part at this year’s Drumpellier dog show in Coatbridge.
And hounds from as far afield as Ayrshire competed to be crowned “top dog” at the third annual event, held at Drumpellier Rugby and Cricket Club grounds in a bid to raise funds for local community projects.
It was a pawsitive experience for handlers of all ages and their pups who took part in the Drumpellier Neighbourhood Watch group’s third annual event, with the sleekest competitors scooping the coveted titles of waggiest tail; best child handler; dog most like its owner; and best doggie trick.
Prizes were also handed out for the best dog photos, honouring the cutest canines.
Judge and sponsor Graham Wright, of The Pack Leader dog walking service, told the Advertiser: “Judges had a hard time choosing the winners as the standard was very high this year.

“It’s great to see good discipline and training with so many patient child handlers and well behaved dogs.
“Well done to everyone who took part.”
Drumpellier Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Fiona Boyce agreed: “It was lovely to see so many Drumpellier dogs at this year’s show and many guest dogs, with some coming as far away as Ayrshire to take part.
“We’re very grateful to the support we received from local businesses including Trattoria Guidi, Burger 7, Lidl, B&Q, Pets at Home, Tesco Express and Penders as well as the residents of Drumpellier who are consistently generous.
“In turn, we have been able to support the local foodbanks and the Coatbridge Orchard.”
