Snack van boss raging after thieves nick her kitchen from Motherwell car park in dead of night

A snack van owner was left devastated after thieves made off with the van that she has run for over 25 years.

Katie Laughlin (above) took to Facebook on Monday to tell her punters the reason that ‘Katie’s Kitchen’ was not in its usual spot on Jack Street car park in Motherwell.

She said: “Regulars may be wondering why Katie’s Kitchen is not standing in its usual spot this morning, let alone open.

“It is with deep regret to tell our customers that the snack van was stolen last night (Sunday, October 6).

“If anyone was in the area at around this time and possibly has dash cam footage can you please get in touch.”

Speaking to the Advertiser, Katie said she was absolutely gutted that someone could do this to her. She said: “I’ve been in that spot for 25 years and never had a problem, it’s a disgrace that people just think that it’s okay to take your business from you.

“I’m just annoyed as I’ve put everything into it and have built up a great customer base and if I’m not back out quick I could lose my customers. I contacted the police on Monday morning at 7am when I discovered it wasn’t at it usual spot.”

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: “Police in Motherwell are investigating the theft of a static van from the Stirling Street area of Motherwell. The theft is believed to have taken place between 9pm and 11.30pm on Sunday, October 6.

“The van is described as being white, with green text on its side.

“Enquiries into the theft are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0517 of Monday, October 7.

“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
