The owner of a Jack Russell terrier which went missing in Midlothian, prompting a huge search, has thanked Edinburgh Live readers after she returned safe.
Ella vanished in the woods around Edgelaw Reservoir last Saturday while owner Lesley Gladstone and her husband were taking her for a walk.
Lesley feared the worst after she failed to turn up in the following days, and we told earlier this week of her desperate search for Ella.
There have been regular search parties looking for Ella since Lesley, from Gorebridge, appealed for help.
This included volunteers with drones and thermal imaging equipment.
However the three-year-old rescue dog showed up at her home almost exactly a week after she went missing, just as her owners were beginning to lose hope.
Lesley told Edinburgh Live: "It’s been the worst week of my life, she arrived home almost a week to the minute after she went missing.
"I can’t believe she’s home.”
She said Ella "was skinny, wet, cold and wobbly but otherwise OK,” and thanked all those who shared her appeal and helped search for the Jack Russell.
