Owner of East Kilbride bridal boutique heartbroken after shop targeted by vandals

The owner of a Village bridal boutique has said she is heartbroken after mindless vandals smashed her shop window.

Born and bred in East Kilbride, Joanna Kilpatrick opened Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo in 2010, combining two previous shops in the area into one on Main Street over three years ago.

And having not long reopened after months of lockdown, she took to Facebook appealing for the local community to help catch those responsible.

She believes the incident took place late Tuesday night into the early hours of yesterday (Wednesday) morning.

In a plea on social media she said: "Not the best start to the day for us......last night someone tried to break our front window in our beautiful boutique.

"Thankfully we have amazing glass that stopped it from totally smashing.

"Please if anyone witnessed this or has any further information can you pm us or contact the police on 101."

And she said that everyone at the shop was "absolutely devastated" and couldn't believe they had become a "target for vandals" just a few weeks after opening her doors once again.

"It's like a kick in the stomach - for someone to do this to us at a time like this. Life has been hard enough as it is of late," she added.

"And to make matters worse we can't get it replaced for three weeks due to the size of the window."

Police confirmed that an incident had been reported and investigations were ongoing with CCTV coverage in the area.
