Owner films dog to see what he does while she's at work - and footage breaks her heart

Dogs are often referred to as man's best friend for a very good reason - they're oh so loyal.

One woman recently discovered just how loyal her pooch was after seeing up a camera in her home to see what he got up to all day.

However the one-year-old border collie called Pi Dan (meaning 'Naughty') didn't live up to his name and cause any chaos while on his own.

Instead his owner, a Ms Zhang, who lives in China was "heartbroken" to see that her pet spent 10 hours waiting by the window for her to return home from work.

The patient pup looked out of the window for any sign of his owner and unsurprisingly was overjoyed when she finally came back.

In a clip, shared on Douyin (the original TikTok), Pi Dan could be seen jumping up and down excitedly when Ms. Zhang arrived home.

Speaking to Mail Online, the dog owner admitted this behaviour wasn't new for him and was something he did regularly.

She said: "He does it very often. Most of the time, he would spend the entire morning just waiting there. Sometimes he would maybe take a short nap in the afternoon.

"It broke my heart seeing that footage, but I have no other way.

"I try my best to take him everywhere to play during weekends and holidays. I also considered keeping another dog, but I was worried that they would both wait for me. I would be even more heartbroken."

Many people sympathised with the dog owner's struggle over not wanting to leave the animal by himself and shared stories about their own pets and their behaviour.

One commented: "I have the exact same working time as you. My dog has the exact same waiting time as yours."

Another added: "After keeping a dog, not being home for one day feels like a sin. I would feel so guilty and I would do anything to stay with it all the time.

"It's like being in a romantic relationship!"
