Man and dog injured as Alsatian launches terrifying attack

An owner walking his cockapoo tried desperately to save his tiny dog as it was picked up in the mouth of an Alsatian.

Video footage sent to the ECHO showed a woman walking two Alsatians near Scargreen Park in Norris Green yesterday around 12.50pm.

The footage, which we have chosen to edit due to its graphic nature, appears to show one of the Alsatians getting away from its owner as a man walking his dog passes on the other side of the road.

The Alsatian is then seen to run across the road and lunge at the smaller dog while the cockapoo's owner unsuccessfully tries to shield it from the larger dog.

At one point, the Alsatian can clearly be seen with the smaller dog in its mouth and appears to be shaking it while the distressed cockapoo owner tries to get it to release his pet.

Merseyside Police confirmed they are investigating the reported attack.

In a statement, they said they had received reports a German Shepherd attacked a cockapoo resulting in injuries to the dog and the owner who is said to have suffered an injury to his hand.
